Planted assists congregations and organizations to launch sustainable community meals and other food programs, to re-imagine and re-invigorate existing programs, and to participate in the larger food security movement. Best practices are documented in A Table for All: a toolkit for Christian community meals in a framework of food justice (2020).
This takes the form of tailored consulting, access to expertise, invitational roundtables, and workshops on topics such as:
- The continuum of responses to hunger within a sustainable local food system
- Recruiting and training passive guests or program participants to take active roles in the design and implementation of programs
- Safe food handling practices
- Nutrition assessment and menu planning
- Consensus standards of food quality and program success
- Trauma-informed care, boundaries, navigating grief, and understanding addictions
- Theology of food, spirituality of Christian hospitality
